Endometriosis Global Alliance
A New Global Division of Endometriosis Canada
The Endometriosis Global Alliance (EGA) unites leaders from around the world to improve endometriosis education, diagnosis, research, and patient support.
Together, we are building a global network to ensure every person with endometriosis—no matter where they live—has access to informed, compassionate, evidence-based care.
Why We Built This
Endometriosis affects millions worldwide, yet access to knowledgeable care remains uneven, fragmented, and difficult to navigate — especially across borders. Patients are often left relying on word-of-mouth, closed networks, or incomplete regional lists to find appropriate support. The EGA Global Directory was created to address this gap by offering a publicly accessible, patient-centred resource that brings visibility to endometriosis expertise around the world. By mapping where care exists — and where it does not — the directory supports patients, informs clinicians, and strengthens advocacy efforts aimed at improving access, collaboration, and health system planning globally.
The EGA Global Directory is an evolving resource. Inclusion in the directory does not imply endorsement, and the directory is not intended to be exhaustive.

EGA Monthly Feature:
Iceland
Global Endometriosis Surgeon Directory
This month, the Endometriosis Global Alliance (EGA) is proud to spotlight an exceptional international care option in Iceland, led by Dr. Jon Ivar Einarsson, an internationally recognized Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgeon (MD, PhD, MPH). Dr. Einarsson previously served for 18 years as Head of the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and as a Professor at Harvard Medical School. He now operates a specialized gynecologic surgery practice in Reykjavík, Iceland, with a strong focus on advanced endometriosis surgery.
What makes this clinic especially unique for international patients is its integrated care model. Surgery is performed in a modern, high-standard surgical facility, with a hotel directly attached to the hospital. This allows patients to rest and recover on-site, without the stress of additional travel during the immediate post-operative period—an important consideration for those traveling from abroad.
Iceland itself is consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world, with excellent healthcare infrastructure, low crime rates, and a calm, supportive environment for recovery. For patients seeking expert endometriosis care outside their home country, this clinic offers a rare combination of surgical excellence, safety, and patient-centered convenience.
EGA is honored to feature care options that prioritize both clinical expertise and the real-world needs of people living with endometriosis.
